Smith’s initial Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week award comes after he averaged 13.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and shot 51.9 percent from the floor in Wagner’s 1-2 week. The Baltimore native scored 12 points (6-8 FG) and grabbed seven rebounds in a 61-55 setback at Monmouth on Monday, then amassed 10 points and five boards as the Seahawks dropped a 74-55 decision to CCSU on Thursday. Smith saved his best game of the week for Saturday when his 18 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal helped the visiting Seahawks snap a seven-game losing streak with a come-from-behind 64-60 triumph over Quinnipiac. His three-point play with 2:10 remaining gave Wagner the lead for good at 59-57 and his dunk in the waning seconds iced the victory. On the season, Smith is averaging 8.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per outing.
