Chappell walks away with his league-leading fourth Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week honor of the season for his role in the Colonials’ 2-1 week. Playing like anything but a freshman, Chappell averaged 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals, while hitting 51.3 percent of his field goal attempts and shooting a red-hot 50.0 percent (8-16) from three-point range. He first contributed 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals as Robert Morris cruised to a 79-67 win over Keystone state rival St. Francis (PA) on Tuesday. In a 73-65 conquest of Monmouth on Thursday, Chappell tallied 13 points, eight boards and three assists, then despite pumping in a career-high 27 points - including 5-6 shots from outside the arc - and adding eight rebounds, five assists and three steals, the Colonials dropped an 84-83 decision to Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday. On the year, the Cincinnati product leads all NEC freshman with 13.0 ppg , 5.2 rpg, 1.7 spg and a 38.5 percent success rate from long range. Chappell already ranks fifth in school history for points scored by a freshman with 247.
