Trim, the NEC’s leading scorer, helped vault Sacred Heart into a first place tie as the Pioneers extended their winning streak to three games with a 73-60 win over previously unbeaten Robert Morris on Thursday and a 65-54 triumph over St. Francis (PA) on Saturday. Trim averaged 19.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and shot a scintillating 76.5 percent from the field to earn the first weekly honor of his career. He posted his eighth double-double of the season against the Colonials with 23 points (7-9 FG), 10 rebounds and a season-high three assists. The San Juan native also played outstanding defense, leading a group effort to limit Robert Morris’ A.J. Jackson - who ranks first in the conference in rebounding and second in scoring - to 10 points and three boards. Two nights later, he played just 26 minutes due to foul trouble, but scored 13 of his 16 points after the break as the Pioneers pulled away from the Red Flash in the closing minutes. Trim finished the evening with 16 points (6-8 FG) and four rebounds. The 6’ 10" center upped his scoring average last week to 18.6 ppg and now paces the circuit in field goal percentage, hitting 60.9 percent of his shots from the floor. Trim is also fourth in the NEC with 7.9 rpg and is shooting at a 70.7 percent clip in conference play.
