One of the premier sharpshooters in the league over the course of his career, Chiera claims his first Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week award after two outstanding performances at the Mohegan Sun Classic over the weekend. Chiera averaged 21.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 3.0 steals and shot 11-21 (52.4 percent) from three-point range as the Blue Devils defeated Birmingham Southern, 76-67, in the opener on Friday, before suffering a 94-90 setback to Northeastern the following evening. He hit six second half three-pointers and scored a game-high 20 points against Birmingham Southern as the Blue Devils rallied from a five-point halftime deficit. Chiera then tallied 23 points - including five more treys - and established new career-highs with nine assists and six steals against Northeastern, which rallied from an eight-point deficit with 3:22 to play. The Colonia, NJ native, who posted back-to-back 20-point outings for only the second time in his career, has now amassed 188 three-pointers in a Blue Devil uniform, second among active NEC competitors and third in CCSU annals.
