Disch, the 2004 NEC Defensive Rookie of the Year, posted a career-high 18 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, two sacks and a forced fumble despite Albany’s, 14-13 loss to Central Connecticut State on Saturday. Disch, who was a regular on last year’s NEC weekly award roll call with four rookie of the week awards and a single defensive player of the week honor, captures his first accolade of the 2005 season. The 18 stops is the most by any Great Dane player versus an NEC opponent, and tied the program’s single-game Division I-AA standard (Josh Bazan, Drake, 10/12/02). The sophomore and league leader with 41 tackles this season, has recorded double-figure takedowns in 13 of 14 games as a collegian. Last year, the North Plainfield, NJ native led the NEC in tackles (131) and tackles-for-loss (15.0).
