Matos helped Quinnipiac clinch its first-ever NEC regular season title over the weekend, batting .545 (6-11) with a homer, two runs scored and four RBI as the Bobcats took two out of three games from fellow contender Monmouth. After a 3-4 performance in a 7-5 setback to the Hawks in the first game of a twinbill on Friday, Matos blasted a three-run homer to ignite a five-run first inning in the nightcap as Quinnipiac held on for a 6-5 victory. In the title clincher on Saturday, he went 2-4 and drove in a key insurance run with an RBI single in the fifth inning en-route to a 4-2 triumph. Matos also played a major role with his glove over the weekend, as the Larchmont, NY native was involved in three inning-ending double plays. He concluded the regular season ranked third on Quinnipiac in hitting (.326) and homers (five), as well as fourth in runs scored (23) and fifth in RBI (24).
