Delaney was one of the catalysts in Quinnipiac’s surge to first place last week, hitting .300 (8-20) with a double, a triple, five walks and eight runs scored. In the nightcap of a doubleheader against Sacred Heart on Monday, Delaney hit a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 3-3 and came around to score the winning run on Ryan Rizzo’s walk-off homer that gave the Bobcats a key 5-3 victory. In a 10-4 setback to Boston College on Tuesday, Delaney had the unique opportunity to compete against his brother Jason, an all-Big East outfielder, and finished the game 1-2 with two runs and three walks. In a sweep of St. Francis (NY) on Saturday, he went 3-7 with a double, triple and crossed the plate twice. Delaney, who hails from Hanson, MA, is sixth in the NEC with 21 walks on the season.
