Bunyan pitched the finest game of his collegiate career on Sunday, tossing a one-hitter with nine strikeouts in the Knights’ 3-0 win over St. Francis (NY) in the second game of a doubleheader. Bunyan carried a no-hitter through 6 2/3 innings, but an error extended the game and a blooper just over second base foiled his bid. He recovered to fan the final batter of the game, his fifth strikeout over the final two frames. It marked Bunyan's second straight complete game victory as the Belle Harbor, NY native improved to 3-4 on the year with 58 Ks in 42 2/3 innings, which translates to a league-leading 12.2 per nine innings pitched. He ranked 10th in the nation in strikeouts in the latest NCAA statistics report. Bunyan has also moved into a tie for seventh on FDU's all-time strikeout list with 164.
