Meyers claims dual NEC Player/Rookie of the Week honors after a career performance at the plate as Monmouth won all seven of its outings to extend its win streak to nine and pull within one game of first place Sacred Heart. Meyers hit .500 (11-22) for the week, with four doubles, three homers, 14 runs scored and an amazing 17 RBI in seven contests. He was also walked nine times and recorded a 1.091 slugging percentage. These figures are even more staggering when one considers Meyers was hitting just .154 with one homer run and eight RBI entering play last week. The Stratford, NJ native swatted a pair of round trippers - including his first career grand slam - and drove in five runs in an 8-1 win over Wagner on Wednesday, and finished his week with a double and three RBI in the Hawks’ 17-2 triumph over St. Francis (NY) on Sunday. Meyers also homered and knocked in four runs in a 16-8 conquest of Lafayette on Tuesday and tallied four RBI as Monmouth rolled to a 15-1 win over La Salle on Thursday. By virtue of his big week, Meyers now leads the NEC with 25 RBI and 18 walks, and raised his average 87 percentage points to .241.
