Thurber follows teammate Todd Ruder as NEC Pitcher of the Week after tossing a five-hit shutout in the Blue Devils’ 3-0 victory over Vermont in the second game of a twinbill last Wednesday. Thurber, a junior college transfer who hails from Seekonk, MA, shut down one of the hottest teams in New England, allowing only one batter to reach third base and striking out five for his first collegiate win. Vermont was 7-3 at the time and ranked 15th in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Northeast Region weekly coaches poll.
