Thompson’s late-game heroics propelled Mount St. Mary’s to a pair of league wins on the road last week, as the Mount is off to just its second 3-0 start in NEC play since joining the conference in 1989-90. Thompson averaged 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and hit 14-28 shots (.500) from three-point range on the week. After sinking four three-pointers and scoring a game-high 20 points in an 85-53 setback at #22 Maryland on Tuesday, he again led all scorers with 18 points in a 64-63 triumph at Central Connecticut State on Thursday. In that contest, his fourth three-pointer of the game with 24.8 seconds on the clock pulled the Mount to within one point. The Germantown, MD native then drilled the game-winner from the top of the key with 6.6 seconds left. In a 67-60 win at Sacred Heart that completed the Mount’s two-game Connecticut sweep, Thompson tallied 12 of his team’s last 14 points - including two key three-pointers - over the final 4:34 of the contest. He finished with a game-high 25 points, snared six boards and hit 6-10 shots from beyond the arc. Thompson, who ranks second in the NEC in three point field goals (3.1/game) and third in scoring (17.5 ppg), moved into 27th place on the Mount's all-time scoring list with 1,143 points in 68 career games.
