Barbosa claims his second NEC Rookie of the Week award this season after recording a goal and an assist in Quinnipiac’s 3-2 win over Central Connecticut State on Sunday. The win clinched a spot in the NEC Tournament for the Bobcats, who will be making their first postseason appearance since 2000. With his team trailing, 1-0, Barbosa knotted the game with a shot in the box off a feed from Dominic Popolozio. He was also credited with an assist on Francis Mavula’s goal five minutes into the second half that tied the score at 2-2. Barbosa has scored a goal in each of the last three matches - all Quinnipiac victories - and enters tournament play as the team leader with seven goals and 15 points. He is tied for third in the NEC in goals and is the league’s sixth leading scorer.
