van de Ven had a hand in four of Quinnipiac’s five goals last week, as the Bobcats defeated Manhattan, 2-0, and were edged by Big East rival Providence, 4-3. van de Ven assisted on both Quinnipiac goals in the win over the Jaspers, and added a pair of helpers versus the Friars. With four assists last week, she raised her 2004 league-leading total to five and her NEC-best point total to nine. van de Ven, who hails from Heesch, Holland, is one of five Quinnipiac freshman who have tallied at least two points this season. van de Ven and her classmate - as well as fellow Holland native - Laura van Leeuwan have taken 50 percent of the team’s shots thus far and have combined for 14 points.
