With Papa swinging a hot bat, Wagner made up two and a half games on Fairleigh Dickinson last week to pull within one game of the Knights for the fourth and final NEC playoff berth. For the week, Papa batted .526 (10-19) with five doubles, two homers, three stolen bases and ten RBI. In a 6-2 win over Monmouth on Wednesday, he went 2-4 with a career-high five RBI. Papa stroked a bases-clearing double in the third inning and then blasted a two-run homer in the fifth inning to put the game away. He then helped the Seahawks take two of three games from St. Francis (NY) over the weekend, going 6-12 with two doubles, three steals and five RBI in the series. In Wagner’s 8-1 win on Sunday, Papa went 4-5 with his third homer of the season and three RBI. The Freehold, NJ product ranks fourth on the team with a .315 average and paces Wagner with 17 doubles, 29 RBI and ten stolen bases. Papa’s 17 two-baggers are also a league-leading figure.
