While Hosgood claims his second NEC Player of the Week award of the season, it marks the fourth time in six weeks the honor has gone to a player from second place Central Connecticut State. The senior rightfielder batted .429 (12-28) with nine runs, ten RBI, a double and two home runs last week to lead the Blue Devils to a 5-1 mark. Hosgood did much of his damage last week in one fell swoop with an extraordinary performance in CCSU’s 19-6 win over Hartford on Monday. In that game, Hosgood went 5-7 with a double, a pair of homers, four runs scored and a career-high nine RBI. A native of Clifton Park, NY, he registered at least one hit in all six games and was 5-12 (.417) with three runs scored in a three-game sweep of St. Francis (NY) over the weekend. Hosgood is currently the NEC’s second leading hitter with a .413 average. He also ranks first in the conference in a number of categories, including RBI (36), triples (four) and on-base percentage (.503).
