Piazza collects her league-leading third NEC Player of the Week award of the 2003-04 season after winning a pair of #1 singles and doubles matches last week. In Quinnipiac’s 7-0 win over Hofstra, she defeated Erika Reggiani, 7-6 (2), 6-3, and teamed with Gabby Pasternak for an 8-4 doubles victory. Despite dropping a 4-3 decision to UMass later in the week that ended the Bobcats’ six-game win streak, Piazza won a three-set thriller, 6-2, 1-6, 7-5, over Stephanie Price. She once again paired with Pasternak for an easy 8-1 doubles triumph. Quinnipiac, the NEC preseason favorite according to league head coaches, is now 11-3 overall and 3-0 in NEC play.
