Hosgood, an all-conference outfielder in each of his three seasons and a five-time NEC Player of the Week award winner, is off to a terrific start at the plate for the two-time defending league champion Blue Devils. In leading CCSU to a 4-0 week, including a doubleheader sweep of Boston College on Sunday, he batted 9-18 (.500) and drove in eight runs. His best game came in a 14-7 win over Boston College, as the Clifton Park, NY native went 3-4 with five RBI. Hosgood added four hits in an 11-4 triumph over Bridgeport and drove in a pair of runs in a 22-1 victory over Hartford. Sporting a .432 average and a team-leading nine RBI on the season, he also became the school’s all-time leader in career triples (17) after lacing three last week. In addition, Hosgood also became the fourth player in school history to reach 200 career hits, and with 210 to his credit, is third on the Blue Devils’ all-time chart.
