Kearse put up solid numbers across the board for Mount St. Mary’s last week, but it was his contributions on the defensive end of the floor that helped land him his second weekly honor of the season. Kearse nearly averaged a double-double with 9.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in the Mount’s 1-1 week. He also shot 60.0 percent from the field and was a perfect 6-6 from the line. In a 69-53 win over Robert Morris on Thursday, Kearse scored 12 points, grabbed six boards and helped limit the Colonials’ high scorer, Chaz McCrommon, to 14 points on 4-15 shooting. Two days later, the Charlotte, NC native contributed six points, 11 rebounds, three assists and hit a clutch jumper with 10 seconds on the clock to give the Mountaineers a brief one-point edge before St. Francis (PA) scored on its final possession and held on for a 76-75 win. In that game, he guarded one of the NEC’s elite scorers in the Red Flash’s Darshan Luckey, who was held to 15 points on 4-10 shooting from the field. On the season, Kearse is averaging 6.3 points and leads the Mount with 5.5 rebounds per contest.
