Williams becomes the third Long Island player to earn NEC Rookie of the Week honors this season, following classmates Esa Maki-Tulokas (twice) and Evan Meekins. Williams averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and shot 47.4 percent from the floor, including 50.0 percent (4-8) from three-point range, and 81.3 percent (13-16) from the line as the Blackbirds split two NEC games last week. In an 81-78 win over Quinnipiac on Friday, he scored a career-best 20 points, tied a career-high with eight boards and hit a clutch three-pointer with 1:05 to play to give Long Island the lead for good at 80-78. Williams drained 3-5 shots from beyond the arc as the Blackbirds secured their first conference win of the season. Earlier in the week, he had 15 points and three boards in a 61-56 setback at St. Francis (PA). On the season, the DeSoto, TX native leads all NEC freshman with 11.3 ppg, 3.5 apg and a 75.8 percent mark from the line.
