Despite seeing limited action, Yngstrom’s clutch plays had a direct impact on the final outcome of Monmouth’s 17-10 win over Robert Morris on Saturday. Yngstrom ended the contest with two tackles, both solo stops for loss of yardage, and added one sack and one forced fumble. With the score tied at 10-10 with just over 13 minutes remaining in the contest, the Colonials looked to be headed for paydirt when on a 3rd-and-1 play from the Monmouth 6-yard line, Yngstrom took down RMU’s Moises Hernandez in the backfield for a two-yard loss. The Colonials were forced to attempt a 25-yard field goal that missed wide right. Less than five minutes later, Yngstrom made the play of the game. With 8:09 showing on the clock, Yngstrom made a classic helmet on ball tackle to jar the ball loose from RMU quarterback Drew Geyer. Teammate Sean Kerr scooped the ball up at the Colonials’ 9-yard line and three plays later, Bobby Smith scampered into the end zone for the decisive score.
