Making his first collegiate start as part of a revamped Robert Morris secondary, Niklos twice came up big for the Colonials in the fourth quarter to help seal the Colonials’ season-opening 33-23 victory over Buffalo State on Saturday. With less than five minutes to play in the contest and Robert Morris holding on to a precarious three-point lead, Niklos alertly recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown following a sack of Buffalo State quarterback Mike Mikolaichik. On the Bengals’ next possession, Niklos picked off Mikolaichik at the Colonials’ 18-yard line with 2:10 to play to seal the victory. On the afternoon, Niklos also recorded six tackles and two pass deflections.
