Athans, a first team all-NEC return specialist in 2002, accounted for 245 return yards in Sacred Heart’s 24-20 win over Robert Morris in Moon Township on Saturday. He brought back six punts for 128 yards with a long return of 38 yards, and had three kickoff returns for 117 yards, including a 74-yard scamper in the first quarter that gave the Pioneers the ball at the Robert Morris six-yard line. Sacred Heart would go on to score two plays later to take a 14-7 lead. Athans, who earns his second weekly special teams accolade of the season, ranks 15th nationally in punt returns (13.3 ypr) and 17th in kickoff returns (25.9 ypr).
