Monmouth has received stellar play from its special teams thus far in 2002, with Andriola’s placekicking being one of the key components. In Saturday’s 20-14 win at Stony Brook, Andriola came up big in the fourth quarter, hitting a 27-yard field goal to give the Hawks their first lead of the contest at 10-7. He went on to convert a career-long 45-yard field goal with 6:38 to play to boost Monmouth’s advantage to 13-7. Andriola also performed well in kickoff chores as his booming kicks resulted in one touchback and another drive starting inside the Seawolves' 20-yard line. Stony Brook's average starting point after a Monmouth kickoff was the 22.4 yard line. Andriola’s league-leading six field goals places him seventh nationally in I-AA this season. He also ranks third on Monmouth's single-season list behind Chris Mandell (12 in 1999) and Peterson (ten in 2001).
