Giampolo opened the 2026 campaign on a tear at the plate. In Wagner’s five-game stretch at the La Jolla Invitational, the sophomore infielder/designated player registered at least one hit in each of those contests to calculate a .583 batting average with a 7-for-12 clip. In addition, Giampolo accounted for more than half of her team’s scoring on the weekend after she drove in three runs and crossed home six times. The Garden State product had a big game in Sunday’s 6-0 win over Montana. Scoring her team’s first and final runs of the outing, she put her team up by a 4-0 count in the bottom of the second with a two-run base hit. In the Seahawks’ finale against Saint Loius, she crossed home twice in the top of the third and the top of the fifth to tie up the game, an eventual 5-3 defeat. This is Gimapolo’s first-ever NEC Player of the Week award.

Zavala pitched a gem against Montana in Wagner’s penultimate game of the La Jolla Invitational on Sunday. The Chino Hills, CA native put on a show in her home state as she went the distance to help pilot the Seahawks to the 6-0 shutout win against the Grizzlies. Zavala, a junior, allowed just seven runners to reach the paths on her watch after she limited Montana to just two hits and five walks. In addition, she fanned nine batters, the most of any NEC pitcher during Opening Weekend. In three appearances and two starts, Zavala registered 13 strikeouts in 10.2 innings of work. This is her third career NEC Pitcher of the Week award.

NEC SOFTBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Nessman earned her first career win on Saturday in Le Moyne’s third game of the season at the Blue Hose Invitational. After fanning five batters and allowing no earned runs in her first career start, a complete-game effort against host-team Presbyterian that saw the Dolphins come up short by a 2-1 final on Friday, the Canadian-born hurler came in to work for the final 3.2 innings to lead her team to a 19-16 win over Morehead State. Nessman also threw 2.0 innings of relief against Western Michigan on Sunday where she limited the Broncos to two earned runs on three hits in that stretch.
